“Should I snack?”
It’s one of the most common questions I get from clients trying to lose weight, improve energy, or reduce belly fat.
Many people think snacking is unhealthy because we’ve been told to “eat less and move more.” But for most people, the RIGHT snacks can actually help support metabolism, energy, hormones, and blood sugar balance.
At Berman Health Club, we talk a lot about blood sugar stability because it affects almost everything in the body.
And no — blood sugar is not just important for people with diabetes.
Blood sugar impacts:
- Energy
- Cravings
- Sleep
- Mood
- Hormones
- Brain function
- Stress response
- Belly fat storage
When blood sugar rises too high or drops too low, many people experience fatigue, cravings, brain fog, irritability, and poor sleep.
Many people are told their blood sugar is “normal,” but functional medicine looks deeper than basic lab work. We care about how stable your blood sugar stays throughout the entire day — not just one fasting number in the morning.
One of the easiest ways to support stable blood sugar is by eating protein consistently throughout the day.
For many people, having protein every 2–3 hours may help:
- Reduce cravings
- Improve energy
- Support metabolism
- Prevent afternoon crashes
- Improve focus and mood
This does NOT mean you have to eat a full meal every few hours.
Many clients ask for easy gluten-free and dairy-free protein snack ideas that are quick and realistic for busy life. Here are some of my favorites:
